Living History
I've always been fascinated with historical time periods, particularly early Colonial America. While researching my family history and ancestry in early 2026, I became enamored with one particular 'link' in the paternal chain, and I got stuck in the 18th century North Carolina Piedmont.
I love the Frontier aesthetic, I love the Pioneer attitude and sense of perseverance; I've always loved working with wood, and I'm fascinated by the craftsmanship that evolved and adapted to meet their needs. I don't know exactly what I am looking for when it comes to a 'Living History' hobby, but my first major goal is creating a fully-functional 18th century workshop for woodworking, metalworking, leather working, cordage/rope making, etc. - A frontier farmer like my Piedmont ancestor would have been a 'Jack-of-all-trades' out of necessity, and that fits my personality perfectly.
